My apologies to the f!list for the spam, but it seems that I'll be able to finally sell this laptop -- later than I would have liked, but beggars can't be choosers. I'm getting the keyboard replaced tomorrow, as well as transferring most of my things on a borrowed external hard-drive and making a clean Windows install for this fellow who's taking it off my hands.

The boys at my main parts shop already have the new PC completely assembled -- all that's needed is to drop over there with the money and pick it up. It won't be quite as advanced as I had initially hoped (2 GB of RAM instead of 4 and a 500 GB hard-drive in place on 1 TB one, a 17" monitor instead of a HD 20" one) but I'm already exceeding my set affordable price with about 250 RON as it is, so any eventual upgrades will have to wait a few months, at least.

The only remaining problem is the Internet -- specifically, the last thing I'll do is buy a separate connection, given that we're already paying a good deal for the current one. Not to mention all of the hassle of drawing wires all the way from the general hub on the eight floor through the stairwell, our apartment and into my room.

What I'll do is buy s small device similar to those found within laptops, as to allow the PC to pick to the wireless signal emitted by the router in our apartment. It's the most cost-effective option, but it isn't free either -- that little thing is around 50 RON and I've depleted all of my reserves already, reason why I don't know when I'll be able to get it. I'm going to try borrowing some cash from a friend tomorrow, so if everything goes well, I should be back online on Thursday evening or so (since Wednesday is going to be full with both the purchasing of everything I need and this exam that I'm not exactly looking forward to).

Here's to hoping that I'll actually have some good luck for a change.

Haven't posted much lately -- mostly since college had eaten me alive (starting exam session tomorrow and ending somewhere in the first week of February) and I've done little else other than sleeping and attempting to keep the epic!angst levels at sub-critical levels by stuffing myself with chocolate and everything else even vaguely sweet and tasty that I could get my hands on. All of this despite the fact that I've never much had a sweet tooth in the first place. Go figure.

Filled with youthful charm, this coming-of-age chronicle, set in a sixty-four cubic-metre underground box, takes a look at partners, yuki_judai (Rupert Grint) and yubel (AnnaSophia Robb), who discover themselves reliving the murky past, due to the fact that a devastating situation has been made possible by her neglected cousin, johan_andersen (Tom Felton). The screenplay was adapted from the memoirs of johan_andersen, but has less cursing.

I would honestly watch a film like that, even though I'm not exactly keen on romantic pieces for the most part. It's also amusing that at least Rupert Grint has red hair -- the image of a blond-haired actor for Judai would have made me crack up completely. Don't even get me started on the fact that this indicates blood-ties between Yubel and Johan, because that's long been a fanon theory of mine -- given the lack of canon knowledge for this kid's past.

So. We have guests over here again, even though I made it abundantly clear that I would have preferred to have the day all to myself and my own preoccupations -- given that I'm both weary and rather tired of people after two parties in a row.

They're pleasant sorts and at any other time I would have enjoyed their company. Now, however, I'm just glum, bleary-eyed after a bad night and generally too irritable in order to be all that civil while in the company of others.

Resolutions. Done about this time every year. I have a few, though I don't know the odds of ever fulfilling them. We'll know next year, won't we? And some that I can't fulfill, but I like thinking about them anyway, and doing my best, because if you don't try, you don't know, right?

I may do others,but those are the ones I really want to do the most. Oh, and this one: 365drabbles. I'll start on that one later today. Since it doesn't come with its own prompts or table, I'm kinda thinking of making up one of my own for it, for my own pleasure, just to see if I can pull it off. That'll probably turn up later today. Along with a couple of other things, if I can get my brain turning enough.

Several observations that are no less true in the new year:

★ The effects of eating too many deviled eggs have remained the same -- an upset stomach, nausea and a certain need to toss out one's dinner.

★ Arrogance coupled with entitlement make for a cringe-inducing combination.

★ Related to the above observation -- fandom has been up to its usual shenanigans just as soon as 2010 started. Nothing surprising there.

★ Cheap fireworks will always produce a very underwhelming display, no matter the enthusiasm of the person lighting them up. Let this be a lesson to people who want a show but are too tight with their wallets in order to buy the more expensive rockets and firing batteries.

★ The New Year's Eve programs on TV have been absolute rubbish -- again, nothing out of the ordinary. You might think me prone to complaining for saying this, but I can assure my Western readers that they'd probably want to gouge their eyes out after seeing some of our variety shows. They're that bad most of the time.

★ Only TVR -- the national television -- had a semi-decent program. And that was mostly because Aurelian Temisan was in it, both as a singer and presenter. I've always liked his voice, reason why seeing him in a number reminiscent of 1920's cabaret was a pleasurable experience.


And that's about everything that's worth mentioning. I've promised some time ago that I wouldn't go about making a list of new Year's resolutions -- since I never go through with them in the first place. However, I'm making an exception now, if only because I need to make a symbolic gesture in this path to getting myself motivated.

Resolutions:

★ Get over this depression somehow. Stop feeling like an utterly useless lump and be proactive already.
★ Use the free week in February in order to start taking part in those accounting classes held at city hall.
★ Pass the upcoming exams with good grades.
★ Canon review or do something else that will kick-start the interest in roleplay again (no, smut logs don't count).
★ Post the betenoire_rp app.
★ Try to write some fic (of any kind).
★ Smile some more.

Shouldn't be very difficult, if I can manage to get myself together properly.
